Brisighella and its Spa
A land with a vocation for hospitality
The medieval town of Brisighella stands along the road that links Faenza and Florence, and is set amidst the greenery of the Romagna Apennines. It is an area with a talent for hospitality, excellent quality of life and sustainable tourism, recently awarded important certifications: Borghi più Belli d’Italia (Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages), Città Slow (Slow City) and the Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club.
Brisighella sits at the feet of the “Tre Colli”, the three chalk hills on which the Venetian Manfrediana Fortress, a valuable example of medieval military art, the Clock Tower, a defence bastion built in 1290, and the Sanctuary of Monticino, a sanctuary with an old Marian tradition dating back to the 18th century, all stand. The town still retains its medieval urban arrangement: it has a maze of old lanes, including the characteristic Via degli Asini (Donkeys’ road), a raised and roofed road which is unique in the world.
There are numerous sacred buildings and places of worship: the Parish Church of San Giovanni in Ottavo, an atmospheric Romanesque style temple and the Chiesa della Collegiata, which houses important works of art, including a panel by Palmezzano. Thanks to its old spa facilities, its historical, artistic, wine-gastronomic and naturalistic heritage, Brisighella is the ideal place for a holiday dedicated to wellbeing, culture and the delights of good food.
