Ravenna
The emotion of art and history
A town of unequalled charm, Ravenna is a veritable treasure chest, guarding treasures which represent some of the finest moments of the history of art. Eight monuments in Ravenna, firstly San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, are on the UNESCO World Heritage list and house the world’s richest heritage of mosaics, dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries.
A magnificent age-old pinewood and a long sandy lido make the nine beaches of Ravenna unique. They are characterised by a strong identity and a tradition for tourist hospitality and organisation which is renowned throughout Europe, without forgetting an extensive range of food and wine specialities. The hills of the province of Ravenna are also worth exploring, as are the significant centres of outstanding historical and cultural value on the surrounding alluvial plain.
