Castel San Pietro and its Spa
The wealth of quality
Castel San Pietro is between Imola and Bologna, along the historical Via Emilia. Being at the foot of the Apennines between Tuscany and Emilia, the municipal territory is partly flat, where the gaze stretches across the cultivated fields. The remainder is hilly and characterised by vast stretches areas of woodland, canyons and valleys that create a unique panorama greatly appreciated by cyclists and motorcyclists, with its pretty twisting and turning roads.
Founded in 1199 as a fortified city, in 2005 it was certified as “Slow City”, the international network of the Cities of Good Living, as well as being a Honey Town, Wine Town and Children’s Friend Town.
The genuine welcome, typical of Emilia- Romagna, is evident here: the local produce is accompanied by a gastronomic tradition which offers numerous opportunities to taste typical products, such as “squacquerone” and “castel san pietro” cheese, mutton chops, wine, honey and Savoiardi biscuits (lady fingers). The old-town centre with the characteristic Bolognese arcades and the Lungo Sillaro Park, allow visitors to enjoy the green landscape which frames the local history.
